The Microsoft Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) provides a whole suite of tools as well as extensive documentation and is definitely a good place to start when aiming to master the new Vista installation process.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to carry both your data and applications on a USB Stick instead of needing to haul a laptop everywhere ‘just in case’.  Now that 4GB+ USB Sticks are common place, capacity is no longer an issue.  Getting typical business applications to run directly from a USB Stick can be achieved through Application Virtualization techniques. That leaves two other aspects: application settings and access security. This article describes a complete prototype solution that I developed as part of an Innovation project for one of our largest customers and shows the real power of Application Virtualization done right.
